Survival

(Crawling infant through age eight)

This class is required for all new students to PhD Swim School.

This class is designed to teach independent swimming and survival skills to toddlers and young children. 58-inch maximum height and 50-pound maximum weight limits apply.

Kicks & Tricks

(Survival Student Graduate)

Before enrolling in the weekly class, students are required to either complete the Survival program or demonstrate their ability to attain and maintain survival skills such as back float for a minute, roll from their front to their back and float, and swim 5 feet with their face in the water.

FUNdations

This class is for students 3 years and up who can swim-float-swim 15 feet. FUNdations teaches pre-stroke fundamentals of hand-lead swimming.

Beginning Stroke

(5 and up)

Before enrolling in Beginning Stroke students are required to swim 15 meters = 45 feet independently with proper kicking technique and proper head/body position.

Advanced Stroke

(7 and up)

Before enrolling in Advanced, the student must be able to swim 15 meters = 45 feet each of Freestyle and backstroke.

Competitive Stroke

(7 and up)

Before enrolling in Competitive, students are required to swim a legal 100M Individual Medley, 4 lengths of a standard pool, all 4 strokes.

Coach Katie Blalock

SENIOR INSTRUCTOR, DIRECTOR OF BUSINESS OPERATIONS

Katie B. is a former sprint triathlete and triathlete coach. She also has experience teaching fearful adult beginners how to swim. Katie is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Wilmington with a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice. She also has prior accounting and business administration experience with Raleigh Brewing Company and Charles & Colvard.

Katie has two boys herself and loves working with young children. She is a gifted teacher with special strengths in class organization, maintaining structure in a fun environment, and establishing a relationship of trust with her students. Katie has undergone over fifty hours of intense in-water and academic training to learn our method. She primarily manages all day-to-day business activities and is also an instructor. She currently teaches Survival, Kicks & Tricks, and, FUNdations.
